chronicling my adventures, one step and bite at a time
About
The blogger
Hi, my name is Aki (she/her) – thanks for visiting my site! I am a curious learner who likes to see where her feet and stomach lead her to. While I have been privileged to call many places around the world “home” for some period of time, I now live in Seattle, Washington.
Here are a few “walk look eat”-related fun facts about myself:
I’ve been to 6 of 7 continents – Antarctica is the last one to get to!
I started to teach myself how to read and speak Korean because of BTS.
I have Thai and Burmese nicknames, which were given to me by my language teachers. My Thai nickname means “doll” and my Burmese nickname means “golden pollen.”
I walk, on average, 10,000 – 13,000 steps per day as a car-less individual. My three highest walking days have been in the 30,000 step range (as of December 2025: Boston, MA; New York, NY; and Sapporo, Japan).

“Walking, looking, eating – it’s what you do.”

“Walk Look Eat” is my little corner of the Internet where I will share memories, perspectives, and reflections from the various adventures I get up to.
But I hope to make this site a little different than the standard travel blog. Personally, I do not want this site to be my collection of Yelp/TripAdvisor-like reviews. I also don’t want to only share lists of the top sights to see or dishes to eat. Rather, I hope to use this site as a way to grow as a creative writer and storyteller, so I will experiment my post format occasionally. I also hope to delve into thoughts around related topics to “Walk Look Eat,” such as culture, language, memory, transit, accessibility, socio-economics, etc. (just to name a few). And because this is my creative playground, I may experiment with other forms of content as well as time goes on.
If you’re game for an adventure, then I hope you’ll join me on mine!
